Personal Description:

I am a graduate from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where I specialised in Cello Tuition. My primary study was Cello with Naomi Butterworth and my second study was Piano with Gabriele Baldocci.

While classically trained I am also prolific in the Folk, Jazz and Popular Music arenas. In the classical world I perform with groups such as the Royal Orchestral Society, Orion Orchestra and the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra. In the contemporary arena I have performed with groups at the Hammersmith Apollo, The Roundhouse, and in numerous London venues. I also ran folk music nights in London and play with a swing orchestra.

Tutoring Experience:

As part of my degree I specialised in teaching, both in group and individual settings. As well as tutoring private students I have undertaken a variety of work for Essex, Newham and Hounslow Music Services, Holmwood House Prep school and Saffron Centre for Young Musicians.

At these schools I have taught a range of subjects including Music Theory, Aural skills, General Musicianship and Music technology as well as Folk, Jazz, Popular and Classical on both Piano and Cello.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching reflects the diversity of my performance styles and I always give my pupils the technical faculty that they require to be confident performers. I also allow room for freedom and experimentation. As well as covering cello technique I also instruct my pupils in music theory, aural/rhythmic training and stylistic improvisation. I have experience teaching absolute beginners to more advanced students with an age range of 5 – 65 years old.
