Personal Description:

I am a highly experienced, friendly and approachable piano teacher with a background in professional musicianship. I studied music at Cardiff University under renowned pianist Richard McMahon, and at Postgradua**Contact Detail Removed**vel at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching piano to children and adults through priva**Contact Detail Removed**ssons for over 18 years, and taught at RWCMD Junior Conservatoire for 15. I am a specialist in early years learning, teaching from age 4 upwards. I also specialise in teaching gifted musicians, in building confidence in students who may be struggling with their music studies, and teaching students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, or ADHD, and autistic students/students with Aspergers. I am a professional member of The Dyslexia Guild.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer tailored piano lessons to suit you, whether you are an advanced pianist or a complete beginner, an adult or a 4 year old, a serious musician or someone simply wanting to learn the piano as an enjoyable pastime.

My priority to my students is to give them an enjoyment of learning and playing the piano through an understanding of music and an excellent technique. Sitting of graded exams are an option, but are occasional achievement goals, rather than the sole purpose of lessons. Not focussing solely on exams means that my students have the freedom to develop fully at the piano, (although when they do choose to sit exams, they are always prepared exceptionally well)

I teach music theory alongside practical piano lessons to complement understanding of music. If required, I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity theory exams (currently up to grade 5), making sure that theoretical knowledge is kept relevant to practical work
