Personal Description:
*Available to Teach Online*
My name is Lyle, and I am currently playing and playing in Bristol. As a performer, I have played on European tours with various bands, played on great stages such as The Royal Festival Hall, Bath Forum, and at Glastonbury Festival.
I'm currently playing professionally in a jazz/hip-hop/neo-soul group, a pop band, a Contemporary Big Band and also writing, producing, and performing my own electronic jazz pop music under 'LYLE!'.
Tutoring Experience:
I am currently completing my Level 4 Music Educator certificate from Trinity College, and have
been fully teaching professionally for just over two years, since finishing my studies.
I have a range of students between the ages of 6 - 60, however most of my students are between 12 - 25 years old.
Tutoring Approach:
I specialise in contemporary styles, and have found many of my students typically are:
- Young children, who's parents are looking for a teacher who is more interested in flexibility and
helping the child become inspired and self-motivated, rather than crushed by overly academic and strict teaching.
- Adults who feel like their childhood instrumental learning has left them with large gaps in their
knowledge and ability, particularly when it comes to improvisation and playing music without sheet music.
- Learners who are interested in developing their musicianship, and curious about, but also a bit scared by JAZZ.
- Learners who are interested in recording music, and want advice on both music and professional goals and the industry.
I am happy to teach grades, but have a strong teaching philosophy that focuses around more specifically tailored learning paths that focus on giving the student the tools needed to become self-sufficient playing and creating music, whether it be to relax at home, play with others, or write songs.
