Information About Lydia - Normanton teacher

Personal Description:

Hi, I’m Lydia and I’m Sub-Principal Cello of Opera North and a graduate of the Royal College of Music. Prior to my current job, I had a busy freelance career with orchestras across the UK including BBC Philharmonic, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, London Sinfonietta amongst others, as well as recording music for film and tv and working with artists including Ed Sheeran!
I’m based in Normanton (near Wakefield and Castleford) in South Yorkshire.

Tutoring Experience:

I’ve been playing the cello for 15 years and I’m passionate about the instrument and making sure that everyone has the chance to learn it!
I have over 10 years of one to one teaching experience, as well as orchestral and chamber music coaching.

Tutoring Approach:

My methods will vary depending on your level and goals but I always believe that cello lessons should be a partnership and should absolutely always be fun! I would love to help you achieve the cello goals you have and to discover the joy that can be had from learning an instrument!
Due to the nature of my job, weekly flexibility for lessons is important but I will always make sure that you have regular lessons. Ideally I’d like to teach you once a week/every other week depending on what you would prefer! Online lessons will be offered as a last resort but ideally I’d prefer to teach in person as much as possible!
I teach all ages and abilities, with lesson times ranging from 30 minutes up to 90 minutes, please do reach out to me with any questions and let’s get started! :)
