Personal Description:
I am an experienced lecturer and music tutor specialising in music performance and composition, music production, sound design, and creative interdisciplinary practices. With a background in classical music performance & electroacoustic music composition, I have performed my compositions internationally, released music albums, scored films, theatre & dance projects as well as exhibited multidisciplinary work internationally.
Tutoring Experience:
I have a vast range of teaching experience in music composition and sound design at national and international institutions such as Toronto Metropolitan University and Middlesex University. My expertise spans from delivering university-level courses in media writing, film music, and music production to leading workshops and collaborative projects in interdisciplinary practices in Museums and creative institutions across the UK.
I have developed and delivered curricula that engage students in practical, project-based learning. I mentored students in sound design, music composition and performance. My teaching roles have included collaborations with community groups, managing academic programmes, and facilitating student exchange programs, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging educational experience for all students.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to teaching is rooted in inquiry-based and cooperative learning methods. I believe in the importance of creating inclusive and interactive learning environments where students are encouraged to explore their unique musical voices. My teaching is focused on fostering critical thinking and creativity, ensuring that each student is provided with the tools and opportunities to excel in both performance and composition.
I employ a variety of teaching methods, including flipped classrooms, project-based learning, and practical workshops, to cater to different learning styles. I emphasise hands-on experience and interdisciplinary collaboration, drawing from my own diverse experiences in performance, sound design, and multimedia art. My mentorship not only equips students with technical skills but also encourages them to develop a deeper understanding of music’s role in storytelling and cultural expression.
