Personal Description:
I studied Clarinet with internationally renowned Clarinettist David Campbell at London College of Music and have worked with leading Saxophonists Nigel Wood, Gerard McCrystal and Chris Gumbley. As a musician I specialise as a soloist and chamber/ensemble player. Clarinettist in the Proteus Chamber Group and soloist in many Music Festivals in Wales and the Midlands including as performer and member of the National Saxophone Ensemble and Choir of Great Britain. As musical director, I have initiated and directed many school groups/bands and adult groups over the years, including an advanced school clarinet quartet and adult recorder consorts. I am presently musical director of the Worcestershire Saxophone Quartet which I founded in 2010.
I am currently the Founder and Director and lead performer directing from the Soprano Saxophone of the Worcestershire Saxophone Quartet / Quintet and clarinettist in The Boehm Clarinet and Piano Duo.
Tutoring Experience:
Some spaces available. Adults daytime. School age only a few slots remaining
All students taught from school age 10 to adults, carefully catered for, from the beginner through to an advanced level Gd 8+ with a 99% success rate in the ABRSM or Trinity grades, only if students want to take exams, there is no pressure. Over 25 years experience and success as an accomplished musician and tutor of Clarinet and Saxophone, and Recorders.
The recorder is a proper wind instrument and the family of recorders range from sopranino to bass. Most students begin on soprano or descent and graduate onto the alto or treble recorder. ABRSM and Trinity exam boards recognise the recorder as as a wind instrument and students can take music grades
I have taught within Schools and Colleges in Mid Wales, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire-but now continue with my private tuition practice for students of all ages at my home in my own music room
Tutoring Approach:
I believe learning an instrument should be fun. I am aware each student has their own strengths and weaknesses I encourage and motivate to achieve individual goals. I like to teach using and playing a mix of musical genres.
I believe it is never too late to take up an instrument and encourage adult learners. I also believe as a teacher l
need to motivate a younger generation of musicians.

Louisa's Feedback
Total Amount Of Feedback: | 10 |
Total Positive Feedback: |
I was quite nervous to play in front of what was to all intents and purposes a stranger, but Louisa made me feel relaxed.
We are currently working on technique, gaps in my musical knowledge, and ironing out a couple of bad habts I've picked up.
