Information About Laura - Diss teacher

Personal Description:

I have been a professional teacher and performer for many years, taking part in pantomimes as Principal Girl and various Fairy characters. I have been in a number of productions with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and spent many years performing at the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. I have also performed in variety shows, written and directed various pantomimes and directed amateur musicals.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been a singing teacher for about 25 years in both state and private schools and also some performing arts schools. I also teach private students to an advanced level. I currently teach at the Centre for Young Musicians (part of the Guildhall in Central London). I have also conducted a number of choirs

I have taught from Grade 1 to ARSM level with the ABRSM and Grades 6-8 with the Trinity Exam Board, both face-to-face and digital. I can also provide Aural training.

Tutoring Approach:

As I teach all ages from 9 years to adults my approach changes. However my main objective is to treat singing as an instrument and make sure technique is secure, the songs are age appropriate and the students have fun! I teach the Estille technique and have used this for many years.

My main areas of expertise are Classical and Musical Theatre training and I can help with both GCSE and A Level recitals. I play the piano to a high standard, so I am able to accompany students both in their exams and provide backing track help with their lessons.
