Personal Description:

I specialise in teaching rock, blues, metal, soul, R&B, punk, and rockabilly. I offer discounts for block bookings lessons.

I've been playing and gigging for fifteen years. I write for Total Guitar magazine and I have been a columnist for Guitar Techniques. I've done sessions for the BBC and ITV.

I've worked with Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman, Alex Skolnick, Guthrie Govan, Beverley Knight, and Mark Morton (Lamb of God).

From 2010-2018 I played guitar in Kee Marcello's solo band. Kee was the guitarist in the band Europe (of Final Countdown fame). We toured in France, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and the UK.

Tutoring Experience:

Tutor and assessor at BIMM Bristol 2008-2012. I have also taught at Access to Music (now Access Creative College).
My students have achieved distinctions on their exams at grade 7 and 8 on Rock School and RGT syllabuses.
Private teacher since 2002, including peripatetic work in schools. I have taught guitar in six primary and secondary schools in Bristol.
Tutor at the International Guitar Festivals in Bath, Cheltenham, London, and Newcastle teaching classic rock and alternative rock courses.
Taught at teaching weekends for Guitar Break.

Tutoring Approach:

I individualise all my lessons to your tastes and requirements. I will teach you the music you want to play in a fun and relevant way. If you want to learn music theory, it will be done so that you can use it in your playing. I'll help you to develop the skills to play live and in the studio.
