Tutoring Experience:
I have taught privately for over a decade, taking students from the very beginning to successfully passing graded exams at all levels. am currently musical director for a local mixed choir and have several years' experience leading amateur singers in choral music. I have also acted as musical director in several local amateur theatre productions teaching music to large groups of amateurs.
Tutoring Approach:
Learning music is an organic process, and I allow students to develop at their own pace, allowing them to discover how to play and perform for themselves, while making sure that the necessary technical skills are acquired at a reasonable pace which lets the student acquire a life-long love of music, whether that is in performance or in theory.
More advanced students may well benefit from having an outside pair of ears to assess their performance skills and enable individual interpretations to develop.
However, each student is their own musician, and lessons can be tailored to each individual student.
