Personal Description:
I am self taught on all instruments and generally play by ear. However I have studied music theory and so am able to teach the theory in a practical and accessible way that will de-mystify the technicalities.
I write and compose music and lyrics in a broad range of styles from classical to pop and rock. I have written and produced music for TV and Multi-media web based presentations. I also have experience in recording and producing original material for independent artists.
Tutoring Experience:
I am very experienced and a good communicator with people of all ages, abilities and levels of confidence. I take great care to maintain a friendly, relaxed and calm environment.

Lessons can be conducted in our private studio or in your own home. Our studio and production facilities are located in a peaceful rural setting on the edge of Peterborough.

Jonathan's approach to tuition is very hands-on, encouraging you to push at your boundaries and inspiring you to interact with your instrument musically as well as through optimum technique. He is very sensitive to the needs of the student and is able to put together a tuition path and regime that will get you to where you want to go.
When I contacted Jonathan, I had reached the limit of what I could learn from online tuition and needed someone who could take me further towards my goal of improvising on keyboards. After only a couple of months, Jonathan has introduced me to, and helped me master, new rhythms and syncopation as well as inspiring me to play in a freeform manner. I feel this is exactly what I need to progress to my own goal of creating music using keyboards and DAW, and my interaction with Jonathan is both friendly and warmly creative.
The first session we spent time working out what and how I would like to learn. Lessons are relaxed and the style is more coaching and encouraging, rather than formal teaching - perfect for me and just what I was looking for :)
