Personal Description:
I am a music graduate from King's College London, holding a Master’s degree in Music. My flute studies include training with Kate Hill (Royal Academy of Music), as well as previous instruction from Elizabeth May (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama) and Philippa Davies (Guildhall School of Music and Drama).
As a performer, I have served as Principal Flute with orchestras, sinfoniettas, and symphonic wind bands, and have also performed in various smaller ensembles. As a saxophonist, I have played Alto and Baritone Saxophone with several symphonic wind bands and renowned groups such as the King's Big Band, Jazz Outlaws Big Band, and Constellation Big Band.
My versatility as a musician extends to pit band work for musical theatre productions, including Anything Goes, Annie, and many others, often showcasing proficiency on a variety of woodwind instruments tailored to each production. I have also performed as a clarinetist with the GCS Jazz Collective and in classical orchestral settings.
In addition, I have taken on roles as an oboist, performing in works such as Handel's Royal Fireworks and Vivaldi's Double Cello Concerto. My skill set also includes recorder performance, most recently playing descant recorder for Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas.
Tutoring Experience:
I have extensive teaching experience spanning several years, including roles as a primary school teacher with a PGCE from the UCL Institute of Education (Outstanding). I am currently pursuing a PhD in Education at Cardiff University, where my research focuses on education. My academic work includes published articles on music and education, reflecting my commitment to advancing knowledge in this field.
In addition to my classroom experience, I have taught Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Recorder, Piano, and Music Theory in both one-on-one and group settings. My teaching portfolio also includes outreach work, providing music theory and instrumental lessons to students in underprivileged areas of London.
For the past five years, I have successfully managed a private tutoring studio, working with both adults and children, including those with diverse learning needs. This wide-ranging experience has allowed me to develop a highly adaptable teaching style, ensuring that I meet the unique needs of each student.
Tutoring Approach:
I employ a variety of teaching methods for both one-on-one instrumental lessons and music theory sessions, adapting my approach to suit the individual needs and learning styles of each student. My goal is to create an enjoyable and engaging environment, ensuring that every lesson is both productive and fun. I emphasize problem-solving, encouraging students to actively consider and explore solutions to challenges, fostering independence and critical thinking. Additionally, I place a strong focus on developing solid foundational technique, which remains a cornerstone of my teaching philosophy across all lessons.

In just over 9 weeks I have gone from a total beginner to approximately grade 2/3. I could not have done this without him.
