Personal Description:
Hello!
I am Joe , I am currently doing a Degree in Violin Performance at the RNCM where I have been awarded a scholarship to study.
Based in Rusholme, Manchester and would be happy to travel to teach.
Before coming to Manchester I lived down south near Brighton where I grew up. I really love Manchester and its people and would really enjoy doing some Violin lessons alongside my Degree. I have experience working with Students of all ages and Abilities. We can prepare for exams, learn new music, prepare for concerts and I could even teach you some folk tunes!
I play in a String Quartet which I love and outside of music I really enjoy cooking and going for walks.
Tutoring Experience:
I have worked as a teacher before, initially at a young string scheme in London for a few years, With Children who were 5-9. Then I worked on the Pro-Corda chamber music course for a few weeks with kids from the age of 9-15. I have also worked on the English Camerata Soloists chamber music course for Adult amateur players. As well as this my String Quartet have done a few fun workshop in primary school last year alongside our usual programme of concerts and Weddings.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to Violin tuition is very flexible. I am really interested in violin technique and efficient practice methods, whilst also making sure that it is a fun and engaging process. As well as this I would work with the student to ensure that they find repertoire that interests and excites. It is really important to me that I get to know the student and what makes them tick. Communication is always vital!
I am also really passionate about Yoga and Alexander technique and how they relate to Violin playing. One of my main priorities would be making sure that students don't pick up bad postural habits within their playing.
My favourite Composers are Debussy and Beethoven, what are yours?
