Personal Description:
I am an award-winning musician based in central London with over a decade of teaching experience. I am studying for an MA at the Royal Academy of Music, supported by the Ian Fleming Instrumentalist Award.
I was lucky enough to learn cello, piano, composition, improvisation and music theory with some inspiring and brilliant teachers at the Royal College of Music Junior Department and on music courses across England and Europe. I went on to study music at Oxford, where I won the Fitzgerald Prize and graduated with a Double First.
I have performed in a wide range of venues, from Royal Albert Hall and St Paul's Cathedral to Blenheim Palace and Corpus Christi Dining Hall. My compositions have been performed by the Ligeti Quartet and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
An interest in injury rehabilitation led me to train as a Feldenkrais Practitioner, which helps me understand and teach healthy posture and movement to instrumentalists.
My teachers include: Hannah Roberts, Guy Johnston, Alexander Boyarsky, Yoko Ono, Marie-Noelle Kendall and Robert Saxton. I have participated in masterclasses with Natalie Clein, Pieter Wispelwey, Yo-Yo Ma and Mark-Anthony Turnage.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught cello, piano and music theory since 2012. Over this time I have worked with hundreds of students of different abilities, ages and backgrounds, from casual adult beginners to children who went on to study at the Royal College of Music Junior Department. Those of my students interested in taking exams have passed with merit or distinction.
Tutoring Approach:
My extensive teaching experience allows me to synthesise a wealth of knowledge accumulated over years with Europe's top teachers into relevant and clear advice tailored to the person I'm working with.
I am constantly refining my approach to teaching and enjoy integrating modern research on how we learn best into teaching alongside old-school wisdom.
I believe students learn best through lessons which are engaging, interesting and fun. Choosing pieces is always a collaborative process, so that students play pieces they find rewarding and enjoyable as well as appropriately challenging.

I found them really useful and felt like I made good progress even after one.
Look forward to doing more lessons in future.
His love of cello playing and knowledge of the instrument shows clearly in his lessons.
I feel lucky to have as my teacher.
