Personal Description:
I am a semi-retired university music lecturer. I have written music for **Contact Detail Removed**vision and theatre and performed professionally. My musical experience encompasses jazz, classical, world and popular music. For me music should involve the whole person, so that it is something we feel deeply and enjoy.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught piano and saxophone to individual students privately, in a university music department and in a music school setting. I also used to teach a highly successful group improvisation course at Bangor University.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to taylor the lesson to the student's interests and, of course their level. I teach all styles but specialise in jazz, blues, pop and improvisation. I have had particular success with young students who have found traditional classical teaching off-putting, helping them to achieve top grades in school music exams. I am happy to teach all ages and levels.
