Personal Description:
James was born and grew up in Bedfordshire. Whilst studying music at school he became interested in composition and was awarded the coveted Peter Lamborne Youth Bursary before gaining a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music. During his time at the Academy, James has won a number of other awards including the Evan Senior Scholarship for exceptional musicianship and since leaving the academy, the Adopt a Composer Award.
James has sung and performed as a pianist in music festivals and venues around the UK.
Career Highlights include teaching young musicians in the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department over two terms, leading to a performance of their piano trios in June 2012,
Studying 'Principles of Education' with tutor Paul Harris, the UK’s leading writer on education and music with books published by Faber Music and regular lessons with Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Master of the Queen’s Music.
Tutoring Experience:
I am a Music Conservatoire trained musician (Royal Academy of Music) with the additional teaching qualification of LRam. I am an experienced teacher having taught students of many ages and differing abilities. Whether you're just a beginner learning for fun, want to prepare for GCSE/A Level music or an instrumental exam, I am the right teacher for you!
