Personal Description:
I'm a musician with an eclectic range of practices and interests, and I look to cultivate the enjoyment of music in others, regardless of style and musical background. I look to help my students understand the music that they play and unlock as many doors for them as I can.
Whilst specialising strongly in classical guitar, I also practice jazz guitar, electric guitar (rock and metal), renaissance lute, percussion and drum kit, and music composition; having thorough experience in all of these (yes, all!). I believe that this blend of learning approaches has given me the perspective and insight to find what motivates most any student and work best to fit their learning style.
Tutoring Experience:
I have 6 years private teaching experience, all ages, levels and genres of guitar. Additionally, I have also tutored music theory, music composition and prepared students for SQA music exams. I usually teach individual lessons but can accommodate small groups when appropriate.
My qualifications include a 1st class honours in classical guitar performance, ABRSM teaching diploma, PVG, ABRSM grade 8 percussion and RG**Contact Detail Removed**ctric guitar.
Tutoring Approach:
Lesson plans are made for each individual with consideration to the individual's interests and capabilities. Lessons are usually half an hour, or one hour for more experiences players. Comfortable teaching children and adult students.
I welcome enthusiastic students more than experience or knowledge. The first objective with new students is to break down barriers in their playing and build confidence, then to build understanding and to help students work towards what they enjoy.
