Personal Description:

I am a North-West London based singer/actor, writer and director, with a passion for music and working with young people on developing their skills and confidence. Alongside my creative work and drama/singing teaching, I am also a tutor of Politics.

Singing has been a passion of mine since a young age, having singing lessons and performing in amateur musicals during my school years, later training with the National Youth Music Theatre whilst completing my Bsc in Politics and International Relations (2:1) at the University of Bristol, and then finally gaining a masters in Musical Theatre from the prestigious Royal Academy of Music (graduating with Distinction and DipRAM for exceptional performance).

As a professional singer I have performed at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall (for Disney), Cadogan Hall (backing singer for Broadway's star of Wicked Jessica Vosk) and the Adelphi Theatre, recorded jingles for BBC Radio 2 and performed on countless cast recordings and demos of new musicals. As a professional performer I have performed in the iconic rock-musical 'RENT' (Landmark Productions, playing the lead character of Mark), the European Premier of 'Amour' (Charring Cross Theatre) by legendary composer Michel Legrand, 'Thrill Me' (Hope Theatre, and Jermyn Street Theatre transfer) for which I won the Off-West End Award for Best Actor in a Musical, and I am soon to be joining the company of 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents: The Musical' (directed by Tony Award-winner John Doyle) at the Theatre Royal Bath.

I am also a director of theatre, musicals and concerts, with shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Bristol Winston Theatre and Roman Theatre Open Air Festival; I was also the co-director for the sell-out production of 'Snow White' at the Peterborough Key Theatre in December 2024.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been a 1-1 private tutor for the past 6 years, helping student gain confidence, maximise their potential and achieve their goals (whether that is getting into their chosen university/drama school, passing their exams or just looking to enjoy the subject more). I have also led many group musical workshops and singing/acting through song masterclasses to young people of various ages.

Whilst my passion is Musical Theatre, as a musician this encompasses a wide variety of singing styles that I am comfortable performing and teaching, including rock/pop, jazz/swing, and both contemporary (Wicked, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Matilda) and 'legit' (Rodgers & Hammerstein, Sondheim) musical theatre. I am lucky in that I can draw upon my experiences as a performer and director when undertaking tutoring work and helping students.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to singing classes is always focused around three main objectives - firstly, what the student/parent is looking to get out of the class, secondly, ensuring the class is both fun and enjoyable, and thirdly, ensuring the student is singing in a safe and sustainable way.

Lessons will always begin with an active and enjoyable warmup to prepare for singing, and then we will focus on the piece(s) the student wants to work on. We look at musicality and storytelling through song, focussing on style & vocal qualities/techniques (including safe 'belting', falsetto, 'mixing', twang, primal sounds and speech). We will go over tricky sections the student may be struggling to sing, making vowel and consonant pressure modifications, so it becomes easier to perform. We will also look at ensuring there is proper breath support when singing, using Estill technique. If teaching from my home, or if the student has a piano at their home, I am able to lightly accompany them when singing, and we also work with high-quality backing tracks to ensure musicianship improves week on week.

Younger students may be looking to develop confidence and ability, whilst older students can look to refine skills, expand their repertoire and versatility, and focus on future training; this may include show, music college or drama school auditions, or working with Youth Music Groups such as the NYC/NYMT/BYMT. For auditions and musical theatre singing we are able to work on acting-through-song, touching on character, meaning and emotion, and how those elements interact with the function of singing.

Having attended singing classes since a young age and been taught by some of the top vocal coaches in the business, I look to be able to share my experience and learned knowledge to make singing an outlet for enjoyment, whilst developing students' vital skills which can be applied to a wide range of careers and futures.
