Personal Description:
My name is Helen and I currently play in a wind quintet and occasional orchestras. I have also played in the pit for local musical societies in the past.
I also enjoy singing in a local musical theatre society.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching now for around 25 years and have ex pupils who now excel in dance, floristry and medicine amongst other things, as well as music. I currently teach all ages and often enter students for local music festivals as well as Grade exams. I have worked in schools as well as privately and have helped students prepare for their GCSE and A Level exams.
Tutoring Approach:
All my lessons are grounded in classical music techniques as this provides a secure foundation for other types of music, though they are also age related; for example tunes for young children are centered around nursery rhymes and other tunes that hopefully will appeal. However the lessons are also designed to be fun as music making is primarily a social skill which can be enjoyed all through life.
