Information About Helen - Jarrow teacher

Personal Description:

Helen began playing the clarinet at the age of 11 and within 2 years started playing flute and saxophone. Whilst at college Helen studied under the direction of Jennifer Murray then went on to successfully complete her BMus Undergraduate Degree at the University of Wales, Bangor. Helen has almost 20 years performing experience not only as a soloist, but also playing in various orchestras, wind bands and local ensembles.

Tutoring Experience:

I have over 20 years teaching experience on a one to one or small group basis to all ages, abilities and interests. Alongside my private work, I am a small group woodwind and whole class teacher for Durham Music Service. In Sept 2014 I was approached to offer an adult intermediate Saxophone course which is now into its second term and proving successful.

Tutoring Approach:

Having had the experience of being taught by both academic teachers and professional performers who teach, I have found that I provide lessons which focus on sound and getting the best from the instrument. I am very student led and adapt my lessons depending on interests and progression options. I teach from both ABRSM and Trinity examination boards and have had continuous successes.
