Personal Description:
Hi there!
I'm a music teacher and freelance actor/musician based in south west London.
My qualifications: Piano (ABRSM Performance diploma), French Horn (Gd.8), Trumpet (Gd.8 standard), Singing (Gd.8), Guitar (self-taught), Music Theory (Gd.5).
I cater lessons to the needs of each individual, however for a little extra information and where I've come from… I've had classical piano lessons from a young age with the established Russian technique, though later delved into Jazz styles, popular music and improvisation. I've worked both as a classical performance pianist and in a range of bands. I have also played brass instruments for the past 10 years. Starting out on the Trumpet and then transferring to the French Horn, I have performed in a variety of orchestras and bands. For singing, I initially trained classically, gaining Gd.8 Classical singing, though have learnt with a musical theatre technique through the 'Estill' method for 4 years. In addition I am happy to teach Music Theory and beginner guitarists.
Tutoring Experience:
I've taught for the past 10 years, using the ABRSM exam syllabus or learning for fun!
Tutoring Approach:
I cater lessons to the needs of the pupil, be it with or without exams. However, I recommend using the ABRSM syllabus if pupils are happy to work through exams, as I believe this to be the best approach. I teach for 30+ minutes per lesson, recommending at least 45min for pupils working through grades.
