Personal Description:
Hannah began studying music at the age of 3, starting with piano and violin.
As a child, she competed in many music competitions, masterclasses and courses. These experiences gave her invaluable knowledge and understanding that she would later use in her professional career when helping students succeed.
By the age of 18, Hannah had moved on from her classical training and was playing in a pop punk band, supporting major acts across the country, including the award winning song-writer Amanda Ghost, Pigeon Detectives, Elliot Minor and The Wombats.
Tutoring Experience:
At the age of 19, Hannah undertook some work experience as a guitar teacher at the then, prestigious music department of Bootham School in York. Having impressed all round, Hannah was offered the job permanently and flourished as a music educator since then, creating opportunities for her students every chance she could.
Described as a conscientious and empathic teacher, Hannah always puts the needs of her students first, helping them achieve their goals. These have ranged from top marks in GCSE and A level coursework, passing music exams with top marks, audition sucess for national ensembles, participating in masterclasses with world renowned musicians, playing Zak in The School of Rock on the West End, and gaining scholarships in the world's top conservatoires.
When asked what her career highlights have been, Hannah states that, although it may sound cheesey, she loves the positive relationships she has formed with many students over the last (almost) two decades.
Hannah continues to teach all styles of guitar, piano and music theory. She also offers assistance with GCSE and A level music.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe lessons should be fun, first and foremost. Research shows that if you are having fun, you retain more information. Alongside this, I believe in a firm grasp on theoretical aspects in all subjects. I implement this in small and frequent chunks, ensuring it is relevant to the work we're doing, as I appreciate it isn't everyone's cup of tea! The students needs always come first and we reguarly discuss goals and small steps to achieve them.

Has been an absolute inspiration in the first six weeks of my guitar **Web Address Removed** has been over 40 years since I played the guitar and I recently took up guitar playing after a long absence!
She is patient, very talented and I have probably learnt more in six weeks than I would have in six months without the tuition.
Her advice on general posture, foot stools etc, has been most helpful. She is very 'down to earth' and writes notes in a book for my 'homework" as I have a very poor memory!
I wholeheartedly recommend her for anyone considering playing the guitar whether aged 6 or 60,
I will try and remember to update my review in six months time but I am sure it will be just as positive.
