Personal Description:
Hello, I'm Hannah! I am a freelance cellist and flautist playing regularly with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and major London Orchestras on cello. I recently graduated from a Master's in Cello Performance from Oxford University with distinction, where I also gained my BA with First Class Honours. My friends would say I'm friendly, outgoing and bubbly, and I am passionate about sharing my art through teaching. Whether you are dusting off a cello or flute from the attic, your child is excited to start learning, or you are advanced and looking for higher education guidance, I do it all!
In my spare time I like sewing, going to the gym and baking. I can't wait to hear from you and learn music together!
Tutoring Experience:
Private cello, flute and music theory tuition for two years. Coach for both adult and children’s music courses. Flute teacher in Uganda for an intense month of learning from scratch.
Tutoring Approach:
Every lesson begins and ends with a smile on everyone's face! Music is a skill that brings joy and I never lose sight of this in my lessons. My best teachers have kept me striving for perfection while always feeling I'm making progress so this is my teaching style. In return, I also expect my pupils to take accountability for practice between lessons, so time can be focussed on what to improve for next time. For cello in particular I have developed a method focussed on the physicality of playing an instrument, where together we work out what feels right when playing, rather than blindly copying a technique that might not work for you. Lessons are constructive and well planned, and together we love music and the transferrable skills playing an instrument brings!
