Information About Grace - Cheadle teacher

Personal Description:

I am a dedicated and enthusiastic clarinet teacher and music facilitator who is passionate about seeing my students find a love for music and achieve their best. Having graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2023, I have experience playing in chamber groups, orchestras, and giving solo recitals. In other areas of my work, I am a hospital musician and create and deliver music workshops in different community settings. I have a DBS Enhanced Disclosure Certificate and am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience teaching one-to-one and in small groups with both adults and children. Since 2023, I have been a tutor with Trafford Music Service, teaching children and young people across a range of levels from beginner to post Grade 8. Where students have chosen to do exams, I have successfully prepared them and am familiar with the ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses. My experience includes working with young people and adults with additional needs and I strive to make my teaching as accessible as possible.

Tutoring Approach:

I firmly believe that music is about enjoyment, creativity, self-expression and that success looks different to everyone. Listening to students and focusing on how best to support them is very important to me. I also know that a foundation of solid technique allows students to get the most out of the clarinet and using fun, accessible methods as well as a range of repertoire is at the core of my teaching. Learning a new skill can be frustrating and I strive to make a safe space where experimenting and independent learning is encouraged. I hope that my enthusiasm for the clarinet is shown through my teaching and inspires my students to find a love of music, develop new skills, and most importantly, have fun!
