Personal Description:

Hi! Thanks for clicking on my profile - it's great that you're considering learning an instrument! I am a Music Graduate of The University of York and a passionate and enthusiastic player of the bass (both electric and upright). I specialise in the electric bass and am aware of the current syllabus' available for bass tuition and examination.

I am happy to teach any age. It is helpful if the student has their own instrument but do not hesitate to contact me on the email address below if you do not have access to one as arrangements can be made. I am also available to teach music theory either as a general topic for help alongside GCSE or A Level studies, and as a specialised subject, for example jazz theory or guitar/bass tab.

Tutoring Experience:

l have been teaching bass and music theory since November 2016 for a range of different ages. My own studies combined with my wealth of experience playing with a number of different ensembles, including pit bands and orchestras, big bands, jazz/funk groups and church worship teams means that I am knowledgeable about a number of different styles of music, allowing my teaching to be informed and tailored to individuals students' needs and interests whilst also exploring good bass technique and music theory.

Tutoring Approach:

Having been largely self taught prior to having bass lessons, I am well aware of both the difficulties that will be experienced in learning any instrument, let alone the bass, and am keen to approach and overcome these with teaching steeped in inspiration, exploration and enjoyment. I prefer to teach both the instrument and music theory alongside each other as I feel these areas inform the each other.
