Information About Frances - Loughton teacher

Personal Description:

I'm a freelance singer, choir conductor and singing teacher. I teach from my studio in my garden. I have a BAHons in Music and Related Arts and a Postgrad Diploma in singing from Trinity Laban. As well as teaching, I run two choirs and direct and sing in another. Many of my pupils have come to me through my choirs and I'm particularly interested in developing confidence in choral singers and finding the soloist! I love teaching younger voices too and ran a youth choir for 6years.
I regularly perform, often with my hubby who is a repetiteur at Trinity Laban. Very useful!
I trained in classical singing but have also sung in a jazz quartet and am very happy teaching music theatre.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching singing for over 20 years from home and in various schools in Essex and have 100% pass rate with ABRSM exams. I have worked on Education projects with English National Opera, Unicorn Theatre and Spitalfields Festival involving working with hundreds of school children at once! I have led workshops with adult singers and choirs for many years.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to get the best out of my pupils through patient, supportive and fun lessons. The emphasis is on producing a confident, free and expressive voice with a good, sound understanding on how the voice works and how to look after it. Lessons are relaxed and fun and very much tailored to the individual and what their goal is. Exams are offered but are by no means essential.
