Information About Farhan - Edinburgh teacher

Personal Description:

I have been playing the Saxophone for the past 12 years and have performed in multiple venues around my home country, Malaysia. Genres from classical, pop, rock, big band, jazz, and blues. I have played for the University of Malaya's Big Band as one of the main saxophone players under the baton of Prof. Nasir Hashim (he toured and played with the legendary Dave Brubeck back in the day). I am keen to take on budding saxophonists and lay the foundation of the proper technique to master the saxophone. As a hobbyist, I am able to cater to whatever style of playing that the student wants to achieve at the end of the lessons.

Tutoring Experience:

I was the woodwind section leader for my local band, who went on to win a Gold Award at the Hong Kong International Winter Band Festival. I have had experience tutoring beginners to semi-professional players, in honing their skills in saxophone mastery.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer of a positive and nurturing approach in learning anything new, as passion blooms from your desires. As such, different students will have different needs when learning the saxophone. I will lay a proper foundation on how students should approach the saxophone. After establishing a proper foundation in accordance to a detailed teaching structure, students will be able to play any genre that they are interested in.
