Information About Emma - Prescot teacher

Personal Description:

I am an experienced musician with Trinity College London ATCL performer’s diploma in piano and grade 8 distinction in both piano and violin.
When I was in my teens I played in a variety of orchestras and ensembles. I also enjoyed playing the piano on my own for fun.
For two years I was the accompanist to our college choir.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught a range of ability levels on piano from beginner through to grade 7, in English and in French. I have also supervised my own children's practice through their early grades and sat in on their lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

I think that music is most enjoyable when done well, and, with this in mind, I take a thorough approach to teaching, looking at technique, music theory and how to interpret a piece musically. Exams can be useful for giving focus and gaining confidence. However, there is benefit in learning a range of music and gaining experience outside of the exam syllabus.

I have always found music a great source of fun and fulfilment and would love to help others benefit from music as I have done over the years.
