Personal Description:

Hello!

In person and online tuition offered!

I am a professional cellist from Northern Ireland living in Scotland. I am offering cello and/or music theory lessons for all levels and ages to anyone anywhere in the world! This can be in person, at my place or yours, or via zoom. Lessons are usually 30, 45 or 60 minutes long.

After graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland I have worked with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra of Scottish Ballet, English National Opera, Ulster Orchestra and the RTE Concert Orchestra. I also like playing on musical theatre shows in the West End of London and on tour. So far I have played on Hamilton, The King and I, Les Misèrables and My Fair Lady.

I have played and recorded with a diverse range of musicians including Ronan Keating, Evanescence, Hans Zimmer, Richard Clayderman, Alfie Boe and Katherine Jenkins.
Playing the cello has taken me all over Europe and beyond, I've played in some amazing venues like the Royal Albert Hall at the BBC Proms, the Glasgow Hydro, even the Tollygunge club in Kolkata and a mountaintop retreat in Nepal.

Tutoring Experience:

I currently I teach the cello at Glenalmond College, Hamilton College and North Lanarkshire Council as well as some private teaching via zoom and skype.
I have observed lessons at the Junior Guildhall School of Music in London and have worked for Scottish Opera's education department putting on workshops in schools.

I also have experience working with children with autism and complex special needs. I was a part of a string trio who had a weekly residency putting on interactive workshops with children in a special school near Glasgow.

Tutoring Approach:

Some of my students are small children, some are over sixty years old! But a lot are somewhere in between and no matter what level you are at or why you want to play I can tailor lessons towards your requirements to make them as productive and enjoyable as possible.

The benefit of online teaching is it doesn't matter where you are! I have to admit I found the idea of it pretty intimidating at first but once you've signed in and the lesson has begun it's just like any other one to one lesson.
