Personal Description:
Music has been a part of my life for a long time and I love every aspect of it from performing to production, writing to teaching. Helping people discover their own style and methods of creative expression is what I enjoy most about teaching. I've had the pleasure of being taught by some amazing teachers myself and I love passing that knowledge along to future music makers.
I am particularly enthused to work with adults to help them discover a new, or possibly forgotten, love of music as I'm a late starter myself and can direct them around the specific difficulties adults face when learning a new instrument. I'm just as happy working with younger students too, introducing to them to the world of possibilities music opens up when they practice, perform or play.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching privately for over 15 years. Previously a lecturer at Clydebank College specialising in Sound Production and Musical performance. I teach Guitar, Piano, Bass, Music Theory, MIDI and music programming. Additional certificates held not listed are: Electric guitar playing (Grade 6), Classical musical Theory (Grade 5) and I hold a HND in Music Production from my time studying at James Watt College.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to teaching is always focused upon what the students want to learn, keeping the emphasis on enjoyment of the material. From taking students through focussed grade exams to rediscovering the simple joy of playing music or the pursuit of a long held life ambition, I make sure lessons are based on my students current goals and ambitions - you tell me what you want to learn next and I'll help you get there!
