Personal Description:
I'm an internationally-touring musician and composer who loves to teach; perform and create music that crosses a wide span of genres. Whether it's Jazz, Choral, or Gospel, I find inspiration in it all! I've even had the opportunity to compose music for short-films, and I love to share my passion for music with others. As a piano teacher, I believe that everyone has the potential to become a great musician, and I'm here to help you discover your own unique musical voice. I've collaborated with A-list artists over the years, like The House & Garage Orchestra, Chineke Orchestra, Mo Pleasure, Ben Marc, Zara McFarlane, Jesse J, China Moses and many more.
Tutoring Experience:
As a piano teacher, I aim to support and guide students of all levels, whether they are beginners or aspiring professionals. Through my 18 years of teaching experience, I have had the pleasure of seeing all of my students successfully pass exams with top boards like Trinity and ABRSM. My focus is on helping students become self-sufficient on the piano, so they can continue developing their skills outside of our lessons. I strive to equip my students with the necessary skills to become confident and competent musicians, helping them achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
In addition to my performing; recording and private teaching career, I lead weekly jazz ensemble studies for aspiring professional musicians in partnership with highly regarded music institutions in the UK, such as 'Tomorrow's Warriors' and 'Trinity Laban conservatoire'. Through these ensemble studies, we explore different styles, techniques, and approaches to jazz and ensemble performance, and I help my students develop their improvisation and performance skills.
Tutoring Approach:
My personalised teaching style is designed to cater to each student's unique and specific needs, providing a holistic approach that focuses on the essential skill of listening to music. I have created a self-designed curriculum that covers everything from sight-reading and theory to improvisation and technique, ensuring that my students become well-rounded musicians. When you take lessons with me, you can expect to learn the art of learning songs, the magic of improvisation, the joy of creating your own music, and much more. I will help you develop a consistent practice routine and teach you how to experience music on a deeper level, unlocking your full potential as a musician.
