Personal Description:
I am a Guitarist, Musician and Music Teacher/Tutor who teaches and performs in London. Performing experience includes not but limited to BBC, Southbank Centre and Box Park Shoreditch. I have completed my Guitar grades on the Trinity/Guidhall Syllabus. I am currently completing grade 8 Piano with ABRSM. In addition I have intermediate studies with ABRSM Theory. I am currently employed as a Music Teacher/Technician.
Tutoring Experience:
My experience includes teaching in Primary & Secondary Schools, Community Centres and One-to-One Teaching. Having worked with all ages and different abilities, my students have ranged from examination, ensemble, solo to casual performers.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching is tailored to the students needs, overall improving them on their instrument. This includes musicianship skills as it will give them a greater understanding of the music. This includes teaching different styles of music, understanding its musical features and learning performing techniques. In order to maintain focus and progress, I incorporate students having a log book.

He is extremely patient, professional and knowledgeable and takes his time to explain the music theory to my sons.
My other son who plays the guitar is getting ready for his grade 1 exam. During lock down we moved to online teaching and still my boys have progressed.
I am really pleased with his teaching style and the progress my boys have made. A true gem find.
He is flexible, reliable, knowledgeable, structured, patient and is very diligent. He works as a music teacher which I think makes a difference.
To say that Derek is no short of a miracle worker would be an understatement. In the short amount of time under Derek's tutilage, ours son's playing has taken on new heights.
We are so impressed with the progress and notable improvements made. Derek has been able to identify and address foundational gaps, whilst still developing and expanding upon his strengths. His lessons are holistic, dynamic and engaging.
What has really stood out is our sons enthusiasm and enjoyment. He throughly enjoys and looks forward to his lessons, with a belief that he can excel within this field. We look forward to the many years of success under Derek tuitilage, and are thankful for his investment
