Personal Description:
I am a freelance musician and teacher based in Sheffield. As an experienced performer I play in a number of groups (classical, jazz and pop); I have played at Cadogan Hall, 100 Club, Bull's Head Barnes, Montreaux Jazz Festival, and tours to Europe and Asia. As a solo performer I frequently perform at functions, events and gigs. I completed an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in Music at Cambridge University.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching for 10 years, teaching both in schools and privately. My tutees range from 6 year-olds to adult learners, from one-on-one lessons to groups of pupils.
Tutoring Approach:
My musical knowledge is extremely broad, and as such I can teach a variety of styles to tutees with a number of approaches. One option for many tutees is the classically-trained and exam-based route - I prepare and enter many of my pupils for ABRSM and Trinity-Guildhall exams. I am also able to teach those who want to learn about pop, rock and jazz, by focusing on chords, stylistic knowledge, and gaining a general understanding of music and performance. Most of all, I want my pupils to get the best out of the lessons through helping them gain a solid understanding and appreciation of music.

He is also very knowledgeable about the more technical aspects of learning the piano, and great at explaining things!
