Personal Description:
I am a versatile, friendly and down-to-earth musician with a passion for music education. I have many years of teaching experience and have enjoyed working with a wide range of ages and abilities. I graduated with a masters degree with distinction from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and a 1st class music degree from the University of Birmingham. I now work as a professional music teacher, alongside conducting, orchestrating, performing and other freelance roles.
I am experienced and confident teaching children and adults of all ages on a 1-1 basis, or in small groups, classes, and workshops. The areas I specialise in are piano, keyboard, trumpet, cornet, music theory, composition, conducting, GCSE and A-level music and music technology.
Tutoring Experience:
I have a wide range of experience, flexible methods, and resources as a music teacher. I have worked with both Southend Music Service and Severn Arts music service as a conductor and teacher and where I completed safeguarding training and a DBS certificate. My further experience includes leading groups of children and setting up my own classes on how to read music for adults, creating my own new resources. In my private 1-1 teaching I have taught students from 4 years-old to 80 years-old and from complete beginner to advanced lessons. Many of my own fantastic teachers have passed on many great musical and teaching ideas for me to pass on again. Whether you're looking for high-level teaching on advanced subjects or starting from scratch, I can help you learn in a thorough and enjoyable way.
Tutoring Approach:
I passionately believe that music has extensive capabilities to encourage creativity, to positively affect the whole school curriculum for children and to lead to lifelong loving of music with a great increase in intelligence and wellbeing. I believe that music can be accessed by everyone and should be available as an opportunity for everyone, regardless of age, ability or background.
Please get in touch if you have any questions as I'd love to start teaching lessons tailed for you.
