Personal Description:
I am a music graduate from the University of Liverpool and am now focussing my efforts towards building my career as a private music teacher in my home as well as in schools. I began learning piano at the age of 6, turning to the flute aged 14. Under the guidance of Paul Cheneour, I achieved my Grade 8 flute at age 17. I continued studying the flute and piano throughout my time at West Kent College, studying popular performance before studying Music at University of Liverpool. Kent Music Summer School became a regular feature in my life and attended the wind band, symphony orchestra and Kent Youth Choir from 2011-2017. In my final years, I became principal flute and piccolo with Kent Youth Wind Orchestra. After leaving KYWO, I joined Kent County Youth Orchestra on a number of occasions and have now completed my last year with them. While at university, I was active with the Liverpool University Symphony Orchestra as well as other ensembles both on campus and back in Kent. In the summer of 2016, I was invited to guest as second flute in the Wirral Symphony Orchestra for their bi-annual tour to France. I was then asked again to join the orchestra in 2018 as principal flute.
Tutoring Experience:
I have now been teaching 1:1 flute, piano and music theory lessons for four years with students ranging from the age of 3 who are complete beginners to adults who know their way around the piano. I am familiar with both the ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses and can teach these confidently if students would like to follow this route.
Tutoring Approach:
Everyone is welcome to my lessons no matter your age or your standard! I make lessons fun with musical games for young children so they can understand the theory behind what they learn to play, as well as keeping adults on their toes, with a range of repertoire and techniques varying depending on their musical skills.
Every lesson is individually tailored to the student's needs and to what they exactly want to achieve. I really love teaching all my students so I hope they all love learning to play as much as I enjoy teaching them!
