Personal Description:
Hello and thank you for checking my page on FirstTutors!
My name is Chavdar and I am a singing and piano teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. I am also working actively as a collaborative pianist. I am very passionate about teaching and music education in general. I am a very friendly person who believes in a positive approach to teaching and work in general while being able to provide constructive and direct criticism.
I am offering lessons in East London (between Bethnal Green and Shoreditch High Street stations) and I near Baker Street.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions about myself!
Tutoring Experience:
I am extremely passionate about teaching and I feel very pleased that it is a big part of my career as a musician.I have over 10 years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and abilities, in preparation for ABRSM and Trinity graded exams (all grades) or for personal development (preparing for a recital or a recording). I have also prepared students for conservatoire and drama school auditions.
Tutoring Approach:
Here are some key points about my teaching in short:
- friendly approach with constructive feedback
- lessons planned in advance
- lesson notes provided at the end of every lesson with clear comments (for piano lessons; for voice lessons recording can be used)
- balance between technique and musicianship
- enabling my students to solve problems on their own by explaining how to practise and why use specific exercise
- aural and sight-reading training
Here are some more details:
As a teacher it is very important to me to learn about my student's specific needs and adapt my teaching to those needs, rather than provide a generalised lesson that may not be helpful. My approach to teaching is positive and friendly, yet honest and constructive in regards to criticism. I give my full attention and respect to my students during our lessons but expect the same in return.
In my teaching I focus both on technique and musicianship as I believe they are closely connected. While I spend time developing my students' technique and ability to progress into more complicated repertoire, I never leave the musical work behind. I always encourage my students to think creatively and create a story about the piece they are playing. Music needs to be communicated and performed sensitively in order to move an audience. I believe strongly in encouraging even my youngest students to think creatively and communicate through the music they are playing.
