Personal Description:
I hold a music degree from Manchester University and am now a full-time tutor in maths, science & music theory. My degree consisted of extended theory, analysis, performance and music history essays. I have been teaching performance, music history and theory for 7 years, with outstanding results. I have a 100% pass rate for grade 5 theory on first sitting, and all but one have achieved a distinction. I can provide evidence and references for these results.
During my school career, I was part of many ensembles and orchestras, including the National Youth Orchestra, and have performed in many venues such as Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, The Barbican, Buckingham Palace and Wigmore Hall.
Tutoring Experience:
Whilst at the prestigious Purcell School for young musicians, I lead an award-winning music outreach group. I have extensive experience with one-to-one lessons, teaching over 50 students in the past three years. I make lessons fun and tailor the pace to the student. I have experience with adult learners too. For theory and written exams I provide comprehensive revision and exam technique sessions as part of the package.
I am fully CRB enhanced checked. Please note I operate a 24 hour cancellation policy as standard.

From Claire (/5): I enlisted Charlotte’s tutoring services for my daughter in year 8 following two poor mid term maths tests results (40%). Charlotte was highly organised and planned lessons based on the test criteria for the end of year maths exam. She assisted with setting up and recommending portals to support my daughter’ learning, set homework and checked in outside of lessons to check on progress.
I am very pleased to say that with Charlottes assistance my daughter scored 94% in the end of year exam. I would highly recommend her to others.

From OLIVIA (/5): Absolutely wonderful Tutor! I was one of Charlotte's students and struggled with maths for a long time, especially after the first lockdown. After receiving my mock results a 4/5, I was determined to fix my grade and began to search for a tutor. Charlotte was extremely approachable and quickly helped to create a comfortable environment to work in. She helped set up a messaging system between us so I could ask for help at anytime (even on late nights right before my final exam). One of the things I personally struggled with was finding the motivation to do maths, and Charlotte made sure to keep me updated and on track with our messages so I was able to complete my revision. My aim was to get a 6/7 to apply for sixth-form and Charlotte got me to my desired grades before my final exam! Not only is she a wonderful teacher who is guaranteed to make you feel prepared and confident in maths, she is truly a kind and patient person. I've tried multiple tutors before but often found lessons to be stressful and tiring, Charlotte always took a fun perspective to her lessons with me making maths a subject I finally enjoy.

Charlotte is a firm, efficient and very determined tutor. She prepares the lessons, her sheets and the approach perfectly to the needs of my son. It is really impressive how quickly she realised which approach will work for my son. She has brought a lot of structure to his science study. She even set up the iMessaging group with myself and my wife. She even responds to messages on weekends - this option she offers so we can contact her anytime is very uncommon.
I remember at the end of Y9 when my son received his annual report, he came up to me and said " dad I don't want to fail in sciences at GCSE" and two months on (July, Aug) he said "do you remember how worried I was about science, so much has changed, I feel much better about biology and chemistry now"
I feel the key is that he has started feeling a lot more hopeful about science and can already see the confidence he takes from science, he is able to transfer that, to learn other subjects as well as to his attitude. How to approach a difficult subject or how to study in general has been the biggest revelation for him.
It is still a long way to GCSE, but with Charlotte on our side, we look at his academic performance with a lot of hope and optimism. Thanks Charlotte,for showing us the light!

She is extremely organised and is always able to make everything orderly, so much that my son himself has started to organise things in the same manner. She has brought tons of learning resources that are all organised through different levels of difficulty and teaches my child something different depending on his current grade, providing the knowledge needed for the 11+. From Olivia (/5): Charlotte has been a wonderful help for my daughter currently in Year 10: I like the fact she is pushing my daughter to learn more constantly, that she is able to plan long term objectives for her (her gcse in over a year’s time) and that she is able to support her in more than one topic depending on her needs (mostly maths but occasionally physics, chemistry or biology) Now in lockdown Charlotte’s help has been even more precious!!

From Pammie (/5): Hello… I wanted to express how impressed I have been with the attentiveness of Charlotte in all areas of preparing our son for tutoring. Charlotte, within her own time, called and spoke with Bosley. They determined between them the areas he most needed help in and then Charlotte sent relevant material to be printed prior to the tutoring starting. This would have meant that when tutoring was due to start they could get strait to work! Wonderful! Charlotte was and is so organised, she is communicative and she is clearly passionate about tutoring. As a mother I had/have confidence in her ability to help our son. (Due to the Corona Virus and the closing of schools and the cancelling of exams, our son does not have to write his GCSE's for the foreseeable future so tutoring in the end was not required, sadly.) Charlotte has not tried to push her beyond what she can do. She was happy to start with the basics and work on from there, and has matched the level and the content well to what my daughter is doing at school. My daughter likes to see Charlotte over Skype. I have found Charlotte to be reliable, patient, encouraging and flexible.

From Callie (/5): As my school was shut down halfway through my gcse curriculum, and I was forced to complete it through home tutoring, I relied heavily upon Charlotte for both Combined Science and Math lessons as well as tutoring. We did our lessons through a mix of face to face lessons and over Skype, both of which were successful in providing everything I needed to achieve the grades I wanted. Charlotte prepared in depth lessons and study sessions, arriving to lessons completely prepared with all I would need to understand the subject at hand. Whether it was a particular section I found difficult, or study skills, or just explanations of content, Charlotte made sure by the end of the lesson I understood it all and had the necessary follow up work to consolidate what we’d done in the lesson. Getting closer to exams, we also completed study sessions during half terms and holidays, for days at a time. I think it was these that really improved upon what I’d learned during the term.
Charlotte is not only an extraordinary tutor who knows the gcse math and science curriculum back to front, but she is also a supportive person who made learning enjoyable and accessible. He started to realise though that he could put his hand up in class and answer 95% of the questions being asked! He loved the attention, in that he was answering pretty much everything. Half term school reports in October proved our decision to employ Charlotte as being the right one for us. Combined Science grade from Year 9 had now risen two levels, also Physics, previously her most troublesome area has become her strongest.
I have also been very pleased with Charlotte's prompt time keeping, attention and feeback. As well as the rapport she has built with my daughter.

From Scarlett (/5): Charlotte did a phenomenal job with my daughter Scarlett who had to do a retake of her maths gcse this year. Scarlett hadn't studied maths for 2 years during her A level years and this impacted no her A levels too as both Geography and Psychology contained maths. She had achieved a C grade previously but really struggled and genuinely had to start from scratch. Her university application required a minimum of a B and so she decided that she really needed to retake albeit a last minute decision in September. She wanted to have a go in January at the exam and so Charlotte and Scarlett hit the ground running to try and teach Scarlett a 2 year course in less than 12 weeks. They spent many hours together both in person and via Skype which was brilliant for when we were away. Charlotte is a firm but fun and very determined teacher and Scarlett bonded with her very well. The result? Scarlett achieved an A grade which with out Charlotte would have been impossible and her confidence has soared which is currently reflected in other subjects. Scarlett really had to go from zero to hero on this one in 12 weeks and together they achieved it. Id recommend Charlotte highly. Thank you so much Charlotte.

Charlotte is supporting her with English, maths and science, a huge amount to catch up with. Charlotte is doing an excellent job in motivating and encouraging my client and is able to pitch the workload exactly right to not overwhelm her.

From Abas (/5): Charlotte has been an excellent tutor to our daughter and very professional to dealing with / responding to us and working around dates and times to suit us both. We are so pleased to have found her as the subjects covered are those my daughter requires the most help. Teaching is done online, mainly on hourly sessions but Charlotte is so flexible she also does half hour sessions (if needed). Most important, my daughter is very pleased and enjoys the way Charlotte teaches and seems to have made a great deal of progress on relatively short period of time. Charlotte won't disappoint and is highly recommended by us!

At first I was skeptical about starting lessons with Charlotte due to my long history of unsuccessful tutors, but after reading the reviews I thought I'd give it a go. Lessons with Charlotte has meant that I have gone up from a grade C to a grade A* in maths, and in combined science I have improved from grades C/D/E to As. Her style of tutoring is effective because she is easy to get along with and approachable. With previous tutors I have often felt too intimidated to ask basic questions but with Charlotte I feel comfortable. She puts the fun in science, I am now considering Chemistry A level.

From Lauren (/5): I am 28 and looking to resit my math GCSE. 3 weeks ago, I met Charlotte ready for my first tuition and thought "God help her" trying to teach math to ME! Math is my enemy… or so it seemed… 3 weeks in, I'm tackling all sorts of math… Algebra, Fractions, decimals, sequences, graphs and more. And the confidence she has instilled into me makes me feel "I can do this". Charlotte is the tutor you're all looking for, giving her time, attention to detail, great learning strategies to ensure the info 'sinks in' and most importantly her patience. If you don't understand, she will break it down into a simpler form so that you do.

I think Charlotte is vigorous in her teaching methods applying an assertive stance. This worked well although she does expect high standards from her students!
