Personal Description:
I am a qualified music therapist (Music Therapy MA) and musician (BMus Music) with extensive experience working with both children (Early Years, primary education, SEN/D, neurodegenerative diseases, and SEMH), and adults (neurorehabilitaion).
As a musician, I have experience in orchestral playing, chamber music and solo. I play Bb clarinet, A clarinet, tenor saxophone and bass clarinet. I enjoy playing many different genres, and have experience in classical, contemporary classical, pop, jazz and klezmer. I currently play in London-based Balkan folk band “ShunTA!” (tenor saxophone).
I hold a PGCert in Sounds of Intent- musical development in children with additional needs, from the University of Roehampton.
I believe in an approach to music that is inclusive and participatory, both therapeutically and educationally.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been tutoring clarinet since 2014, worked as a Learning Support Assistant between 2017-2019, then as a freelance music practitioner from 2019 until 2021 when I began my MA Music Therapy studies.
I am currently working as a music therapist for Richmond Music Therapy, Connect Music Therapy, Right Note and am completing a music therapy Graduate Scheme with Chroma. I work with a range of clients that include children with additional needs, children with neurodegenerative diseases, children in neurorehabilitation, children with mental health needs, children in adoption, and adults with neurodegenerative diseases.
Tutoring Approach:
I take a holistic approach to clarinet tutoring, I try to make my students passionate about playing and help them express themselves through music. Where they wished to do music exams I have tailored the lessons to their needs and helped them succeed.
For me playing is about connecting, communicating and expressing yourself and in my lessons I create a safe, non-judgmental environment for my students to learn in, but most importantly to have fun and relax.
