Personal Description:
I teach online or face-to-face on Saturdays. My name is Cat , an experienced Music Teacher from Ascot. I received a 1st Class Honours in Professional Music Performance, meaning that not only do I specialise in Vocals and Piano, I can also teach Performance Technique and tackle issues such as Performance Anxiety and general Musicians' health - from vocal injury to appropriate practise regimes before big performances. Having 16 years of performance experience, performing original's solo work, to covers in a band context of which I am the Musical Director, my lessons are built upon experience knowledge as well as academic knowledge. I have Music Theory Grade 5 and use this within a Songwriting and Composition context so that my lessons are more dynamic, and built upon musical principles as well as learning by ear. I have been an MD for children’s musical productions.
Tutoring Experience:
I currently work during the day as a Primary School Teacher. In addition to this, I have worked for SCAMPS music, Instrumentally, RARE productions and the Rock and Pop Foundation.
I am also an experienced teacher. Since gaining my QTS in 2014, I have taught mainstream classes from reception up to year 6. I have also worked in special needs schools as a class teacher and have a particular flair for teaching children who are on the autistic spectrum.
Tutoring Approach:
Vocals and Singing: SLS (Speech Level Singing) Technique is utilised, as well as elements of Estill method. Contemporary Repertoire is what I specialise in.
Piano: Classical or Contemporary Lessons (tutee's decision)
Songwriting: Contemporary Songwriting methods, techniques, tips and tricks are taught
Music Theory: Classical ABRSM board up to and including Grade 5 is taught
All of these can be for Grade training, or for a more casual, fun approach. The prices do not differ either way.
