Personal Description:

Hi, I'm Carl, a full-time piano teacher based in Middleton. Up to the age of 50, I worked as Head of Music in various school music departments before deciding to focus solely on piano teaching.

I am married to the lovely Isabel and have three grown-up children.

Tutoring Experience:

I obtained qualified teacher status in 1991 and worked in mainstream secondary education for 23 years, for the most part as a Head of Music. I was a Standards Verifier (external moderator) for Edexcel's level 2 and 3 BTEC Music and Music Technology courses from 2009 until 2014. Additionally I have taught piano privately to both children and adults since 1986. In 2015 I left the state education system in order to focus on private piano teaching.

I have experience of teaching students of all ages and can adapt my teaching style accordingly. I currently work with students between the ages of 7 and 72!

Tutoring Approach:

As a very experienced teacher, I understand that students learn better when they feel comfortable, supported, and when they have fun. My lessons are purposeful but relaxed, informative but entertaining, a space where my students, whatever their age, can feel secure in their progress.

I prepare students for exams with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music if they so wish where they consistently achieve merit and distinction grades under my guidance.

Please note that most of my lessons are thirty minute sessions for which I charge £20. These can be extended to 45 minute sessions to encompass more theory for £30. For grades 6, 7, 8 and diploma I also offer the option of sixty minu**Contact Detail Removed**ssons for £40.
