Personal Description:

Camila is a Portuguese classical pianist and piano teacher based in North West London. She started playing the piano at eight years old and graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where she studied piano with Dr Daniel Tong and Katharine Lam.

Tutoring Experience:

Camila has extensive experience teaching piano both privately and in various school settings. She has taught students from Year 7 to Year 11 at the English Martyrs’ Catholic School in Leicester, as well as over 30 students of varying ages and skill levels, from very young children to adults, at Progress Academy in Birmingham. Additionally, she provided group piano lessons to students from Year 7 to Year 11 at Small Heath Leadership Academy in Birmingham.

Camila is the author of "My First Piano Book: A Fun Introduction for Very Young Children", a piano tutor book specifically designed for children aged 4 to 7 years old. The book aims to develop well-rounded musical skills and simplify concepts through engaging stories, colourful illustrations, and relatable analogies. It also nurtures musical creativity with short composing and improvisation tasks. Camila illustrated and designed the entire book herself.

Camila's teaching philosophy focuses on building a strong musical foundation by developing well-rounded skills. Her students not only learn how to read music but also develop listening skills, explore music theory, and apply their knowledge creatively through composition and improvisation. This approach gives them the tools to understand and interpret music deeply, fostering both their creativity and motivation.

Her piano lessons are tailored to accommodate individual students' needs and different learning styles. Additionally, she prepares students for exams like ABRSM, Trinity, and Trinity Rock and Pop.
