Personal Description:

I'm an experienced musician and piano teacher. I've played keyboards and piano with many famous artists, including Take That, Annie Lennox and Jeff Lynne's ELO. I offer versatile piano tuition for ages 6 to 96! You can learn classical pieces, pop songs, how to read music, how to play by ear and more.

My musical journey:
I started playing piano 'by ear' at the age of 5. I later studied classical piano for some years with a Royal Academy professor, working my way through all the grades and winning a classical piano competition. In my teens, I became fascinated by synthesizers and began playing electric keyboards with various bands. By the time I was 20 I'd gained much diverse experience as a keyboard player. I turned fully professional in 1988 and have since enjoyed a successful career playing piano and keyboards around the globe with many famous bands and singers.

I have an enhanced DBS certificate.

Tutoring Experience:

I was fortunate to have been taught classical piano by an exceptional teacher. I learnt a huge amount about the art of teaching piano from this amazing lady. I started teaching piano in 1992 and have taught a wide range of ages and abilities. I use the bes**Contact Detail Removed**ments of traditional approaches combined with my own methods to help students realise their greatest musical potential.

Tutoring Approach:

More than anything else, I aim to make every piano lesson a fun and uplifting experience! My teaching is always shaped to suit the unique goals, preferences and aptitudes of each student, and I'll do everything in my power to support my students. All important aspects of piano playing are given due attention. eg. note reading, chords, harmony, technique, scales, arpeggios, posture, rhythmic awareness, improvisation, music theory and more.

I often teach students how to play by ear. Once you've developed such an ability, you'll be able to play songs you hear without the need of sheet music. I've played many forms of music over the years; my diverse musical experience enables me to teach many different styles of playing - classical, pop, jazz etc.

Please note that I give mobile lessons only, meaning that I come to you and give the lesson in your home. I offer a free introductory lesson, with no obligation. I recommend 30 minute lessons (cost: £22) for youngest beginners. For other students, I'll usually recommend 45 minute or 60 minute lessons.
