Personal Description:
Hello! I am a musician and composer based in South London and I am available for in-person and online lessons. I currently teach at the SE22 Piano School, but I am also available for priva**Contact Detail Removed**ssons. I have 20 years experience of playing piano. I have achieved Grade 8 Piano, Grade 5 Saxophone, and I passed Grade 5 Music Theory with Distinction. I specialise in classical piano, but I am also able to teach the basics of jazz piano. I also have experience training pupils towards music scholarship exams.
I have been both a solo performer, and I've played as part of ensembles - I've played in jazz bands and orchestras and I've been an accompanist for Suzuki violin groups.
My students have a 100% pass rate in taking ABRSM and Trinity Grade exams.

Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy finding ways to teach piano-playing techniques and music theory in an accessible way. In my time as a piano tutor I have learnt the importance of adapting quickly to students’ needs during one-to-one tuition, creating fun ways to learn complicated passages of music and helping the student develop a passion for music by discovering what they like to listen to and suggesting music around their interests.
During my school years I also qualified as a martial arts instructor, working for a South Korean martial arts called Kuk Sool Won. This involved teaching physical fitness and complex principles to people of all ages, although there was a particular emphasis on running classes for children. There are similarities between teaching martial arts and piano, as it is important to listen to your student, teach at a pace they are comfortable with, and find a way to make lessons engaging.
