Qualified Teacher of Singing, Piano, Violin

I have been a teacher since 1982, when I gained my Post Grad Certificate in Education from Cambridge University.

I have been a singing teacher since 1990, and teach beginners to advanced singers.

I enjoy teaching ALL styles of singing, Pop, jazz, folk, rock, classical, songs from the musicals. I am a professionally trained singer, specialising in opera, but I sing in many various styles of music.

My classical training is the basis on which I teach, which is the best for any study.

I love singing from the musicals, jazz, pop and more.I write my own songs and music too, and my opera Nepomuk was performed professionally in Liverpool in2018

I play the piano, so you can sing along with me!

I have sung with Scottish Opera, The Royal Opera House, Bayreuth Festival, the Edinburgh Festival, Swedish Folk Opera… La Scala Milan, Frankfurt Opera, BBC Singers, London Voices. Film Sessions in chorus have included Star Wars, the Phantom Menace, Lord of the Rings, The Prince of Egypt and Hunch back of Notre Dame.

Tutoring Experience:

Singing, vocal technique, classical, opera, jazz, popular, all styles of singing. Beginners to Advanced.

I teach pupils from 8 to 82+

Song writing.

Tutoring Approach:

You might sing for fun, perhaps in a choir, or professionally, and want to work on your technique.
You might want to go through songs with me, to improve interpretation and style.
This style of music could be Folk, classical, pop, jazz, etc
You might want to go through songs with a live piano accompaniment, rather than a tape.I teach singing and teach in many styles, including pop, rock, folk, musicals, teaching in the style you like to sing.

I play piano and can accompany your lessons.

Singing with piano not tape can get you used to singing with other people and practising passages that might need looking at.

I coach and take choirs. My choirs are Roundelay in Southport and St Cecilia Singers in Chester.
