Personal Description:

Hi, I am an experienced tutor and musician who gigs regularly around the UK and even mainland Europe. I have played in many bands over the years on saxophone, piano/keyboard and clarinet in nearly every genre under the sun from traditional, classical orchestras to jazz big bands, rock n roll, jazz functions and groups as well as funk, blues and soul bands. I have completed my degree in music - a Bmus (Hons) in Jazz, Popular and Commercial music. I am versatile in many genres frequently gigging with my own band, a jazz sextet as well as open nights and headlining bands as the lead player. Bands I play regularly with include a jazz fusion band, a blues duo, a number of rock n roll groups, a ska group as well as a leading Dire Straits tribute act. Numerous studio sessions.

Tutoring Experience:

I gained the majority of my experience in tuition teaching beginners before I moved to the North East. This was on saxophone, clarinet and piano with all students having great success in both ABRSM and Trinity graded exams, as well as in pubic performances. I am an experienced ensemble tutor working with groups of all ages across the Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, Teesside and North Yorkshire areas.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel I am a laid-back tutor but push people to be the best they can be. I am free to travel to most areas of the North East and surrounding areas and do not directly require the student to come to me - this can change week to week as necessary. My home studio is set up and ready to go and I have a number of students that are taught from there. All student preferences are catered to with the student guiding the musical material for the lessons.
