Reviews
Margravine Opera House
In the prestigious setting of the packed Margravine Opera House, Bayreuth, a delightful theatrical visual experience was owed to the cellist … he lived the music in his face and handled the cello as if in ecstasies of love.
Frankenpost, Germany
Wigmore Hall
His mellow tone, technical control, and relish of the importance of punctuation, mark him out as an exceptionally gifted player for his years. Everything was there beauty of tone, natural vibrant intensity and above all, a complete affinity with the gorgeous music.

Queen Elizabeth Hall
A player of definite and individual talent. He has no technical shortcomings … a cellist of great sensitivity and feeling
The Strad
Throughout he produced a quality of sound which was warm and full.

Masterly performance…superb playing by Mr .
The Times London
Queen Elizabeth Hall
A born communicator…here is an Artist whose physical being, like that of Rostropovitch or the young Jacqueline du Pre seems intertwined with music and instrument… The Guardian London
Queen Elizabeth Hall
… superb singing quality… a master of dynamics, his energy, vitality, fine delicacy of bowing and a fierce attack, and more fibrous tone suitable to Brahms produced a magnificent account of the Opus 99 sonata.

Tutoring Experience:
I simply love teaching! I have been a teacher for over 35 years. I teach students of all ages, from age 4 to adult student. Over the years my students were accepted at Chetham's School of Music, The Royal Academy of Music, The Royal College of Music and other music colleges. I teach cello and other string instruments for fun, for exams, for achieving higher musical education and for personal enjoyment. I have given music workshops/demonstrations in numerous schools in Great Britain, India and South Africa. I have lectured and given classes for teacher training colleges in the UK. I regularly give special masterclasses, workshops for GESC and A-level students. I also specialise in composition and music theory. Most of my students have received distinction in their music exams with ABRSM. A number of students of mine have got scholarships to various music schools and colleges.
Testimonials
Anup is not just a world class musician, he is also a very inspiring man and a great teacher. Anup came to the school where I am a governor and spent the day running workshops for the children, leading to a concert by Anup and the children to their parents at the end of the day. The children and staff were thrilled and inspired. I would thoroughly recommend schools and music societies to use Anup's talents to run workshops and masterclasses.

Anup is a master of technique and enthusiasm which never flags. He is indeed a born communicator. He constantly encourages, does not expect you to slack, but is never exasperated. His lessons are fun and focused on pushing you forward to greater achievement. Two years ago I was a totally unmusical 61 year old novice and although I am nowhere near grade 8. I am starting occasionally to make some wonderful noises on his beautiful cello. I continue to enjoy every minute that I am not exasperated by my own incompetence (which is entirely due to my not practising enough!). I unreservedly recommend Anup to you.

Anup has been teaching cello to my daughter Louna Giscard D’Estaing for more than three years now. He has been an excellent teacher all around.
When Louna started, at the age of 4 years old, Anup was able to tailor his teaching to her needs and make it engaging and fun to learn. Anup has gradually made his lessons more technical whilst keeping the joyful spirit that defines him. Louna has grown to love cello and now makes a beautiful sound for her age. I can only recommend Anup. He engages and inspires his students, in the most natural and joyful way.

Tutoring Approach:
My teaching is tailored to individual needs of a student. I use various methods to make my students feel at ease during a lesson as well as making the lesson fun and enjoyable experience. For my strings instrumental students I use graded music and other wonderful fun pieces suitable for each individual. My students have great fun doing scales and arpeggios which they do in a most innovative ways. I use my own instrument to show the student how they can improve their technique and make real music so that they can enjoy playing their instrument. I give emphasis on making a warm and beautiful sound, colour and texture to the music. I also use innovative methods for teaching rhythm which is vital to learning any music. My challenge as a teacher is to make sure that all my students achieve their highest potential and the best they can do to enjoy making music. My lesson fees quoted in this site are 40% less than my standard fees, so that it will encourage more students to learn their chosen instrument from me.

Anup is an excellent teacher with a great approach to teaching. He makes the lessons really enjoyable and without realising you have learnt valuable technique and finger strengthening exercises in a really fun way! He challenges you out of your comfort zone and as a result I have progressed much further in a few lessons than I thought would be possible. Working through the pandemic as a doctor has been challenging and I can honestly say that my cello lessons with Anup are one of the highlights of the week! He really does make the process of learning a new instrument a fantastic experience and he encourages you and inspires you to be the best that you can be. I would highly recommend Anup as a teacher and would like to thank the First Tutors website for enabling me to contact him.
