Personal Description:
I graduated from Leeds Conservatoire in 2018 with a First Class Honours Degree. During my time here, I was awarded the Wolfson Grant and The Rotary Club of Leeds Cooke-Webster prize for my academic achievements.
More recently, I have undertaken training in Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding, General Safeguarding (including Prevent) and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. I have a fully enhanced DBS and I am part of the update service.
My performance career includes being involved in small chamber orchestra for a TV series (It’s A Sin) featuring Stephen Fry and Olly Alexander (from the band Years and Years), where we performed live on set. I have also recorded for a Dolce & Gabbana advert which featured Liza Minnelli.
I am a punctual, reliable, polite and friendly person who uses a variety of practical, theoretical and creative teaching styles to keep lessons diverse and exciting.
Tutoring Experience:
I have a wide range of teaching experience including private instrumental tuition, community music based course development and delivery and interactive music therapy style sessions.
In my private tuition, I have experience in teaching individual and small group lessons in primary and secondary schools as well as online using an interactive syllabus that includes work from the ABRSM exam board. I am proud to say that all of the students I have taught so far have received either a merit or distinction in their exams.
My lessons are individual to each student so if you are looking to learn an instrument for fun we do not have to follow any exam syllabuses. We can discuss your aims before we book our first lesson.
My current community based teaching involves creating music courses for adults who want to learn but don’t feel comfortable learning in more formal institutions. So far this year I have created, developed and delivered two online courses for adults looking to learn an instrument in a fun, non-pressurised environment.
My previous interactive music therapy style sessions were delivered in care homes for dementia patients and community groups for people with assisted living. The stimulating and interactive sessions were split into performances, singalongs, playalongs and general feel good, confidence building activities as well as improving general attention, cognition, memory, speech and communication skills.
All of these experiences culminate together so I can deliver a diverse range of lesson styles.
Tutoring Approach:
When teaching, I make sure I engage with the students needs early on. This way I can find out the students intentions for the instrument and lead them in the right direction, whether this being for fun or to go onto exams.

So far, you have been fantastic with our 12 yr old boy. He had never touched the Piccalo before but I listened to him last night (after 4 or 5 lessons with you) and he is playing it surprisingly well! I can hear him going up and down the scale and playing a tune.
Thanks again for being so friendly, punctual and flexible - highly recommended.
Todd
Looking forward to our next lesson.
I get the feeling Anna could teach anyone from child to adult, beginner to advanced, no problem.
I would recommend her to absolutely anyone.
