Personal Description:
I started teaching in 1972 after I had my first baby. The majority of the time i have taught on a one to one basis privately at home but also taught at a college teaching students on a peripatetic basis. I have 3 daughters who i taught to play piano and keyboard and also 5 grandaughters.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching piano and keyboard for over 47years, from beginners upwards and those who wish to take music more seriously though to exams. In all these years ive only ever had one student fail an exam and that was due to nerves. I never enter someone for an exam unless i know they will pass to a good standard. Everyone leans at their own pace. I also teach online .
Tutoring Approach:
My pupils age range from 7 to 86. Some enjoy the piano and others enjoy the keyboard. After all its the pupls choice and Im happy to teach them whatever they want to learm. If they want to just play for pleasure thats fine, but im happy to teach them to exam standard too. I teach online and one to one at home, it’s your choice.

I have had four excellent lessons with Anita Steele to date. I have found Anita to be very professional with a very clear idea of my needs as a complete keyboard beginner. At the first lesson Anita quickly identified and helped me to unravel my muddled thoughts on what I wanted from the lessons. Then she helped me with the correct seating position and correct way of moving my hands up and down the keyboard. During this lesson she also identified and quickly corrected the ‘bad habits’ that I had already started to pick up. Finally, from the three work books she had recommended I obtain before we started the lessons, she selected three short pieces for me to practice, the emphasis on developing my ability to play clear notes and move my hands with conficence.
I am very pleased with Anita’s teaching style and feel very fortunate to be working with her.
