Information About Andrew - Bedale teacher

Personal Description:

I teach piano, keyboard, cello and recorder to all levels. I have a wide range of pupil ages from 4 to 84. Music is really important to me and it gives me great pleasure to be able to pass this along to my pupils.
I work from my home which is in beautiful countryside at the bottom of Wensleydale. I have a purpose built music studio here with a waiting room for parents to use.
I teach in two schools locally which ensures that I keep up to date with training and child protection courses.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught for 27 years, I began as soon as I left university and attained my teacher training.

I studied music at the university of York and have a BA (hons) degree. I then spent a further year completing the ABRSM certificate of teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

First and foremost the experience has to be fun, this applies to all ages of pupils. There is no point in having lessons if they aren't enjoyable.
As all my lessons are one-to-one I find out exactly what each pupil wants to achieve from their tuition. Some wish to take exams, while others hate the idea. Some want to learn for pleasure, many are complete beginners while others come back to lessons after a gap of many years.
I often help pupils who are working on GCSE and A-Level music courses, I teach them the performance and composition elements so all they need to focus on in school is the history and listening side.
