Personal Description:

From Newcastle, Andrew has been playing the clarinet since he was 8 years old. He was awarded a distinction in MMus in Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, and also awarded a 2:1 with an Undergraduate degree (BMus with Honours) at the same conservatoire. He has just returned from a year studying abroad with world renowned clarinettists: Vicent Alberola and Juanlu Puelles. Andrew is very enthusiastic and wants to guide young people on how great music is, and teach them what he knows from his experience as a musician. On the other hand you're never too late to learn music so pupils of any age should go for it!

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching for about 10 years now, I am very patient and can explain things very well. I have worked with a lot people before, being a young leader for Beaver Scouts. And I also worked with people with learning difficulties in Newcastle, as part of Jessie's Fund, we taught people how to communicate through music.

Furthermore, I was a tutor at YYM (Yorkshire Young Musician) in which I taught for 5 hours a day to a very high standard.

My experience as a performer is varied, I am a freelance musician and have played with orchestras such as the Manchester Concert Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, and BBC Philharmonic.

Tutoring Approach:

For anyone of any age it needs to be a calm and patient approach - fun at the same time, as that's what music is all about!
