Personal Description:
*Please note travel costs are not included in lesson prices if I am travelling to you. Lessons are not available in my own home, but may be able to be arranged in a local community centre. Additional charges will apply, but travel costs are free.* I am an extremely enthusiastic and accomplished recorder player, ATCL, DipABRSM, and am skilled on numerous other instruments including the double bass and pianoforte for which I am also a tutor, with over 10 years' experience. I have had much previous performance experience both nationally and internationally, as a soloist and in an ensemble. I am also in a local recorder orchestra who perform publicly annually. I also have a collection of Medieval instruments, which is a period of musical history I am have a strong passion for. This passion was furthered through two years as a student at TCM (Trinity College of Music) on their Flexible Programme of Study.
All applications are considered, although most of my time is devoted to recorder, piano and bass tuition. I am also available to hire as a recorder player, or for theory, music history or aural classes.
I am based in Suffolk and am willing to travel anywhere provided I can fit it into my schedule. Please note that all travel costs are chargeable. Currently I am unable to offer tuition within my own home. I will do my utmost to fit in with a time that is convenient to you.
Tutoring Experience:
I have had over 10 years' experience working with a variety of different age groups, from 4 and up including adults, beginner to advanced, and at private and state schools all over Suffolk.
I currently have private pupils who have lessons all over Suffolk as well as online, and I also run two recorder ensembles who meet for regular rehearsals in Bury St. Edmunds. I am also part of a duo of recorder and harpsichord who perform regularly in venues across Suffolk, and I am a member of a recorder orchestra who hold annual concerts.
Tutoring Approach:
I am an enthusiastic teacher who believes that enjoyment is the most important element to learning any instrument. I have a very approachable style of teaching, encouraging the pupil to look beyond the notes and discover their passion for music. I am willing to work towards exams in a more structured approach if this is desired, and I have many years of experience with the ABRSM examination board and can offer a large amount of expertise in getting pupils ready for their music exams. Lessons are of course available on a more casual basis for those just looking to enjoy a new hobby.

We arranged the lesson for Thursday at 3:15 but after paying for Alice's details I was then told she meant the following Thursday, so make sure you check the date as opposed to the day when arranging lessons with her :)
As to the first lesson arrangement, we had settled on a weekly Thursday slot, but had not finalised an exact start date. I only found out from your subsequent email that you would like to start this week, which unfotunately was just not possible for me. I have apologised for the misunderstanding, but I have done as we agreed, and again I would hope that if a specific start date is really important to you that you would arrange that before accepting and paying the finder's fee.
